Common myrtle  Myrtus communis  perennial.

Myrtle grows on hillsides in the Holy Land and was used by the Jews for making booths at the Feast of the Tabernacles, as a reminder of their exodus from Egypt. To the Jews, myrtle was symbolic of peace, justice and love.
