Black mustard (pepper) is a tall annual herb with a small seed in pod-like structures. It is a close relative of the cabbage, producing lobed leaves and a mass of yellow four-petaled flowers. Yellow table mustard is prepared from its hot oily seeds. The young leaves are often used in salads.
